Well well well, it looks like there have been older Playstation and Playstation 2 titles not running properly on the PS3, yes there have been glitches with the games, check this link out for the full story. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6146328.stm.

Lots of backwards compatable consoles have some teething problems. The PS2 had something similar when it was first launched.
It'll be corrected soon enough. The thing with a console as advanced as the PS3 is that during development and testing there is no possible way that every outcome can be tested. It would simply take too long. As a result developers expect users to discover problems which they will then patch asap.
This is probably what is happening with the PS3

Yes, it says in the news report that the next FW update it should be fixed...

Just heard a news report locally (Vancouver) stating that Sony cannot correct all of the compatibility issues although some will be.

Fingers crossed that 99% of them are sorted though as this is a big feature of the PS3.

People have already started sleeping out at stores to be the first in line to collect their PS3 midnight here on Friday. Sad muppets :shock:

Imma get up real early and go to best buy...they open at 8:00 P.M but start giving out tickets for PS3's at 7:00...so imma go at 6:00...

This is always an issue and to be honest I wouldn't be that bothered. The 360 has the same problems too.

I've been reading threads in a big PS3 forum recently. Most people are recomending that people start camping for a PS3 at least 18-24 hours in advance to get one.
Hell, some people are already camping out. Point of the matter is - do some research. Find out how many PS3s your local store is getting and try taking a cruise by the night before. If there is no-one there you should be fine till early morning but if their is you may want to think about joining them.
I've heard most stores are getting around 6-10 PS3's.

They're gonna have at least 20 60GB PS3's and at least 6 20Gb's...plus I live in a small city so Im fine... :wink:
