Now that warner has gone Blu-ray and also New line cinema is HD DVD over?
There is no way HD-DVD can survive now, with only 2 major studios on board (Paramount and Universal). It will be interesting to see if this makes Universal go neutral, but I guess that depends on what kind of deal they have with the HD-DVD camp. Paramount are of course stuck with HD-DVD for the next year or so after signing their exclusive deal back in the summer. I am sure Sony had something to do with this, but then it does make sense for WB as 300 on BluRay far outsold the HD-DVD version, even though the HD-DVD version had more extras. Because new line has gone Blu-ray we can expect Gears of war movie exclusively to Blu-ray. Here a some links covering the format war etc. N4G.com : Official statement: Warner Bros to back Blu-ray DVD format exclusively N4G.com : Warner -- Soon The World -- Is Exclusively Blu... So what does this mean anyways...
We was talking about this in business studies today about marketting. There is two types of marketing, product orientated and market orientated. Product orientated is when a product is made to be an improvement on its competitors, regardless of consumer needs and price. This seems like what the bluray is, and may i point out that cancord was product orientated, that didnt do well at all. No one wanted it, although its specifically better, too expensive. What im getting at is... are the public willing to go buy a HDTV bluray player to watch a movie in Hi-def? Some maybe, but i still think a vast majority will be happy with standard DVD quality. Screw HD-DVD and Bluray, regular definition for me, who cares about a little smaller of a pixel there and a bit of a better explosion there. I'm with regular DVD, cheaper, smaller size, and I can still enjoy it perfectly fine. Transformers on a HD-DVD/Bluray= 20 GB, regular DVDs = 700 MB, 800 MBs tops. You could have roughly 25 movies that look good in the space that 1 movie that looks a little better.
Also, were you the one that used up all the bandwith on the rapidshare account? It doesn't really matter as it's expired now anyways, just curious. |
