Default The Orange Box

I got this as a gift for Christmas. At first I was scared to open it because I heard that the PS3 version was subpar so I was gonna leave it unopened to return it tomorrow. However, I did some reading online and a lot of people that actually own the game said these issues were pretty exaggerated, so I decided to open it up and play it and just trade it in if I didn't like it, I also figured that this would probably be my only chance to play Portal and I've really been wanting to check it out.

Believe me when I say it was a great decision to keep this game. My fears were laid to rest immediately, the technical issues are hardly noticable, and are far from being a deal breaker. Even when the framerate dips, it's only for a couple of moments, and it will only bother you if you are obsessive about that sort of thing.

The game is a great value, and all the games I've tried so far, (HL2, Portal, and TF2) are great quality. I highly recommend this game if you are at all into the FPS genre, don't let nit-picky opinions ruin it for you. This game is superb.

Really am just looking to play HL2, not really considered the other two games.

TF2 is amazing. Just trust me, I loved it on the 360 version.

Then you should definitely like it MB. That's kinda the opposite for me, I just wanted it for Portal, but now that I've gotten into HL2 I can't stop playing. I've alread put in about 8 hours into it and am on chapter 6 out of 12. I need to take a break from it for a while, I'm starting to see it in my sleep. lol

I also got this game a couple of days ago. I just had to get it because I am a fan of the series. I have both Half Life 2 and HL2 Episode 1 on PC, but this deal was just too good to pass up. Especially since my home PC only runs the game on medium to low settings, and the laptop I have with my to college can barely handle the low settings. This was the only chance I had to play the game on high graphics. I'm happy with the game, except for some reason Episode 2 feels too different from the Half Life I know. I don't know why, but I don't really like the change. I'm still going to play through the whole game before making a final comment on it though.

What do you think about the way the game runs? Are you having the same experience (resoundingly good) that I am?

OK thanks for your impressions VAMP, might get the game if it's a bargain in the sales.

You are kidding me right? This game is already a bargain, $60 for 5 games. Even if it doesn't run perfectly, it is a must get for anyone that has not played Half Life 2 before, or is a fan of the series.

About the performance, I felt a couple framerate dips while playing Episode 2, but nothing was severe enough to give me problems. You have to be a perfectionist to not want to play a game because of those.

Finally - I just beat Portal on standard difficulty, that game really makes you use your brains.

Wait, is it $30 more than normal, or is that just a standard price for games in the UK?
