Saying that the Wii does not compete with the 360 and the PS3 is the stupidest thing I have EVER heard. That's like me saying "The PSP doesn't compete with the DS because...uhm...the PSP uses a memory stick instead of local memory."

It's the next generation - every console is fighting for consumers, including the precious Wii.

Then go tell the president of Nintendo that, cause that is what he said. If they wanted to compete then there would be another $600 console out right now.

Why would he openly announce that his system is inferior to the other two out? The Wii is competing with the 360 and the PS3. Whether they want to announce it or not.

Exactly. If you want to buy a console at the moment in the US, you have three choices - the Wii, the 360 and the PS3. That automatically means they are competing.

The only way what he said would make sense is if consumers bought either a 360 or PS3 and bought a Wii on top of that.

which you might aswell do, I'm guessing you could buy a Wii and a 360 for less than what you would pay for a PS3.

What this Dev is saying is true, the Wii isn't powerful and wont be able to show off any new developments in the programming world that any dev would like to see in the game, this means the developers have to try and think of ways to make the game good without the need of advanced AI or stunning graphics, this makes me think this paricular Dev is just lazy.

To tell the truth the Wii doesn't need uber cool graphics and AI, its cute, it's got all those little Nintendo quirks that we all love.

In using the f1 comparison thing, I'd say a 360 or PS3 is the F1 car going round a track, fast as f***. WHile the Wii I'd compare to a MK1 Escort, still quite fast round a track, but you'd be having loads of fun going sideways round the corners etc.

Indeed, that is what opinions are all about. I must be strange because I find the Wii to be the least appealing Nintendo console I can remember. I even found I wanted the Game Cube more than the Wii because, like the N64, it had the games I liked (Zelda, Mario Kart & Mario etc) without being forced to use a control method I don't like - that is the Wii's problem in my opinion. If the Wii's motion control method was an option I would probably have bought one - they are only cheap after all. Being forced into making arms movements to play the likes of Zelda doesn't appeal to me.[/quote]

which is fair enough, I like the use of the wiimote, using it to aim is easier than using any analogue stick IMO, waving the wiimote to attack someone I find sucks you into the game more than just tapping a button

I would rather drive the F1 car though.

Once i can afford it i will get one, now i have a bigger room etc. By the time i have paid for other expenses which take priority the price should have gone down. And some cheap games.

I agree that can become annoying on some games, they do offer the classic controller, i only used it once for the game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance only because I only played the game once. It works pretty well.

And let me just add my two cents here, just because Lexus and Kia both make cars it doesn’t make them competitors. Two different cars for two different people.
