They're not my cup of tea either but even a recording of someone going for a dump beats listening to Elvis Presley.

You will find Elvis Presley has sold more records than The Rolling Stones but it doesn't make him as good.
that would be down to taste, but I see your point. But if we weren't going to take sales figures into consideration when deciding between consoles, we'd be here forever and a day arguing.

What you need to remember is that, as the consumer we couldnt care how many units they sell, as long as we have one.

The manufacturers on the other hand, couldnt care if people think that their console isnt as good as the other, all they care about is how many units they sell.

So, better? well thats an opinion. At the end of the day the winner is the one who made the manufacturer the most money.

well in order to sell more units than the competitor, the company would have to make their console better than the rest, the wii will have better gameplay and appeal to more people, while the avid gamer will deffo go for the ps3 or 360 (if they had the money).
I went for he wii just because its different, fun, nd c'mon, it's Nintendo!

So the quality of a product dicates it's sales figures? Surely you're not that naive mate. Quality has very little to do with sales figures - it's all about marketing.

Wii costs £180

PS3 costs £450

Wii: 3,190,000 * £180 = £574,200,000

PS3: 1,200,000 * £450 = £540,000,000

If that makes sense, you will understand that the ps3 isnt that far behind. Of course its in £'s and the figures are based on US sales, but i couldnt be bothered to work it out in $.

yes marketing plays the biggest part most of the time when selling a product, but quality still has to be there, a pure pants product will not sell well even if it did have great marketing, most people will do a little research into anything they're thinking of buying, you dont buy a car just because it had a good advert on the telly.

I think in the case of 7th gen consoles, the name has a lot to go by, most people I know will say they're definately going to buy the PS3, just because of the name that playstation carries, everyone remembers X-box to be a big ugly box that was just as good as PS2.
Again everyone knows what to expect from nintendo, better quality games (if i may say that) and OK, very cutesy games. For most avid gamers, they will stick with one choice, I've always been into Nintendo, most people will stick with Sony, some with Microsoft.
Nintendo have gone a step further this time to try and introduce more people into videogames, it has to some extent, but doesn't necesarily mean your grandma's gonna go out and buy one.

That is a matter of opinion. I personally can only take so much Zelda/Mario cutefest before I want to kill them myself.

The Wii comes down to personal choice. I am old school and like my games like games are meant to be. Shaking a stick to play a game just simply isn't my cup of tea.
