Default Smart Movie Converter Work On PSP?

Hi everyone.

I was just wondering something with regards to a program I have on my computer that worked great with the transflash SD card for my old pda phone. Basically it shrinks the overall size of a movie way down in order to fit on a memory card or to fit multiple movies on a card.

The program took a 700mb movie and shrunk it down to 240mb's ish, without comprimising the file at all. Now would this work with the PSP's memory stick duo and could the PSP open the file to play the movie? Say it's a windows media player file that is shrunk, can the PSP open it?

I thought it would be pretty cool as you could fit 2 or 3 movies on a gig memory stick.

So does anyone know of the files created by this program will work for our PSP's or not?

Smartmovie's output is .avi and if your talking about the S60 version then the screen resolution is 176x144!

So your saying the movie's would'nt work on the PSP right?

S60 = Series 60 smartphone!

No, without a player on the PSP the smartmovie files wouldn't work!

Ok, if anyone read my earlier reply please disregard. I found in the Media Tutorial thread above :P .

Now I just gotta see if I can understand it. I figure if I can understand and read turbo compressor maps, I can do this!

Ok I'm pretty much set on the whole movie converting thing however (surprise surprise) I have a question.

It says to format the memory stick and to back up the date, if you have anything saved on there when installing a movie. Ok thats easy enough however, I noticed there's a Browser folder there with info on it that I'm not sure what it is. Now I thought when I flashed my PSP with the 3.02 everything was saved right on to the PSP. So if I format my memory stick and I lose all the info, will I lose my internet browser or anything else from the flashing I did?

I read up and didn't find anything on this or even why I would have to format my memory stick everytime I want to put a movie on my PSP, or did I misunderstand what I read?

no. the browser folder just holds the info of ure internet searching (ie,: history and favorites and bookmarks etc. you wont lose the browser itself, that ain't stored on the memstick. its stored on the flash memory.

I was thinking thats how it was, I just wanted to be sure.

Ok last thing, must I format my memory stick every single time I want to put a new movie on it? Also With my saved game progress I just download it from my PC back on my PSP after I've formated and put a movie on it right? Just would be a real PITA if I had to do that every time I wanted to put a movie on my PSP to watch. :x
