Meh, it was alright. I didn't like it as much as Appleseed, and I'm an anime buff. Either get Appleseed, or Ghost in the Shell. Both are excellent animes and both "pushed the boundaries of Anime".

I agree with Prophecy, but also look into getting Samurai Champloo.

IMO, Akira made me think more and the story was more 'unique' even for the 1980's. Steamboy is a lot more detailed and stuff. I'm sure the story is good to.

It's weird. But at the end, it's totally awesome. The anime's just rebellion chaos until the last 15-30 minutes.

Other good ones on DVD are:

Princess Mononoke (probibly the best)
Gantz (a series, F'n crazy  , but cool)
Ninja Scrolls (the original movie, not the series)
Spirited Away (a little disney)

I have them converted to MP4 I would not buy Steamboy, I would just rent it and convert it, if you have 1gb Memory stick.

What are the stories on the first 3? I saw Spirited Away in the theaters. Loved it.

If you loved Spirited Away you have to get Princess Mononoke, they are both from the same director/writer. I liked PM much more then SA, PM was more of an Epic involving giant animals who were gods living on earth, at a time where humans started misusing & controling the earth. PM is my all time favoret movie, not just anime, but all movie.

Gantz is a crazy series of about 10 disk, and I would recoment renting them from netflix or something. With out giving to much away it is about a group of people forced to hunt aliens living on earth. It has gore, violence, and sex, it was even deemed to graphic for tv in japan. View with and open mind.

Ninja Scrolls is more of a tratitional good vs bad, samurai/ninjas fighting to take over known earth(Japan) back in the futile era. Good action, good story, graphic, make in the early 90's or late 80's
