Default Media Tutorials and FAQ

<Connecting PSP to your pc>
Get a "USB connector A to mini B" you can find those at computer stores and the internet. Turn on the computer and the PSP. Plug the B end into the PSP at the top and plug the A end into a USB port at your computer.
Once you have plugged both those in, go to the PSP and navigate to "USB connection" It is in the far left of the main menu. Press x to turn it on and if you have Windows XP, your computer will have a pop up telling you that the PSP is connected. You're good to go.

<Getting your PSP ready>
In the same menu you turned on the USB connection in your PSP, scroll down and find a button called System Settings. Click on that and find "Format Memory Stick" Click on that and click yes for the "are you sure message". Remember, you need your Memory stick in your PSP to format it and to put stuff on it.

Formatting the memory stick will delete everything already on it!

<Tutorials>

<Putting jpegs on your PSP>
Once you format your memory stick, you can now put things on it. Go to the computer and go to "My Computer" Under the hard drive icons there will be a "new" harddrive labeled with a different letter. Click on that and there will be a few folders called MP_ROOT and PSP. Click on PSP and there will be more folders. Click on the one called PHOTO. This is the folder where you can copy your jpegs and view them on your PSP. To view the jpegs, scroll to the camera icon on the main menu. It will show you a box icon with pictures in it. Those are the pictures that you have just put on your PSP. See the 'FAQ' below to find out about taking pictures with your PSP.

<Putting mp3's on your PSP>
Once your format your memory stick, you can now put things on it. Go to the computer and under "My computer" there will be harddrive icons. Click the 'new' harddrive icon and there will be 2 folders: MP_ROOT and PSP. Click on the PSP folder and make a new folder called MUSIC in it. Put all your mp3's in the folder called MUSIC. To play the mp3's on your PSP, click the 'note' icon in the main menu and select the song you want to play. See the 'FAQ' below to learn the controls for playback.

<Putting Movies on your PSP>
Once you have converted your video, hook up the PSP to the computer like before. If you already have the correct archive up, it should have MP_ROOT and PSP in the root folder. Movies go under MP_ROOT.

Like this: MP_ROOT>100MNV01>'your movies go here'

If you have done it correctly, unlink your PSP and scroll to the video tab and try it out. Questions about movies are in the FAQ.

<FAQ>

Q: Can I take pictures with the PSP?
A: No, but at the moment they're working on a camera attachment for the PSP which will allow you to take pictures. It's still in the development stage and the release date is unknown.

Q: Can I upload my pictures directly to the PSP with my Camera?
A: No, you need to use the computer to put pictures onto your PSP.

Q: What are the controls for mp3 playback?
A: X is 'Play', Triangle calls up the menu, O stops the song, R skips the song, L begins the song again and will go to the previous song if pressed twice quickly, Start is 'Pause' and Home will let you get back to the main menu without stopping the song. (Note: You can't do anything in the main menu while your song is playing or the song will stop. And, the controls for a Japanese PSP for Play and Stop will be reversed. X would be stop, and O would be play. -FalseP.)

Q: The sound to my video is slightly out of synch.. What do I do?
A: Well in the program you use to convert video, find something called the framerate. It is the speed which the video plays. There are two, (~15 fps, ~30 fps). Just pick the opposite framerate that you were using to fix the problem.

Good luck!

I'll edit this as more questions and requests arise.

Oh yeah. There's also something called the 3GPConverter. It basically does the same thing as PSP Video 9. You can find it off Google easy. (Why do you need something other than PSP video 9?)

There's also one called Xcopy9. It's at www.psptransfer.com . It only rips from DVDs, though. And that's the only reason I can think of that you'd need anything but PSP Video 9...

Xcopy9 is actually a lot better I think. You don't need to play around with codecs, and cus it does DVDs automatically it cuts so much time (and effort) out - my 2 cents

Oh, I by no means meant that it was a bad program, I think it's a great program, and I was saying that it's great because it does what PSP video 9 doesn't. =)

I have problems, when I convert larger videos. The sound is faster than picture. why is that so? I'm using Xilisoft PSP Viedo Converter.
