Default Basic question...sorry

Hi, new member, first post, basic question. So sorry, I hate doing this and I have searched a lot honest! In fact it's such a basic query that people just don't add it to the FAQ's

I'm about to get my first PSP and I'm just trying to find out how to convert DVD's onto PSP format. Yep, there's loads of info out there about this two stage process, but most info is about the second stage. I've d/l Video9 for the final conversion to PSP format, no problems there. Where I am a little confused is the initial rip off DVD and what files you grab with Video9. I have DVDShrink, and find it great for 'backing up' my DVD's. Do I just use DVDShrink as normal? In this mode, Shrink will create about 4 .VOB files and a couple of .BUP and .IFO files. Obviously the VOB files are the movie files, so when there is more than one VOB file, will Video9 automatically link them all?

I hope this makes sense. I think you know what I'm getting at though, Do I just rip as normal, and if so, what files do I grab with Video9?

Thanks...

But my question was more about the ripping process and about what to do when you have multiple VOB files etc. Do I just point video9 at the first VOB and it will read and convert all? That kind of thing.

As I said in my post, I'm fine with all the heaps of helpful info out there on converting to PSP format, it's the stage(s) before that I can't find the info on.

I haven't even got the PSP yet, so I am learning right from the beginning.

Sorry to go on, but to be clear, if I have several 1GB Vob files for one film, will video9 know this and convert them all automatically into one .mp4 file then?

I dont know. I would think that it would but if not then just download a piece of software to connect multiple files together then you will have 1 file. (You may have to convert the individual pieces then connect them as mp4's

I suppose I need help from someone who uses DVD Shrink, but just checking the preferences in it, it would seem that the default is to split the VOB's into 1GB chunks which is the recommended and selected option. I could always change this in Shrink and see what happens

Thanks for suggestions so far.

ok, I've used this tutorial and confirmed it works. Its hard to understand at first but stick with it and i guarantee youll be making awesome rips after a couple of goes. Make sure you have a good PC though. the rendering frames can be extremely processor heavy and will cause it to flunk out if the CPU is unstable. happy ripping
