Default sony psp (slim) FW 3.9 video playback?

Hey all, apologies if this question has already been covered by another but can't seem to find my specific model / query. I'm currently working in Korea and have bought a psp silver slim edition with fw version 3.9, I've been through every tutorial and downloaded the relevant video converters and ensured that my (4 gig so plenty of room!) card has all of the relevant folders and also that my converted films are in the relevant places and have the relevant codes / numbers attached to them to enable the psp to see them but it still won't play any videos???? anyone have any ideas as i'm now running out of fresh info, all of the sites i've visited just run through the same info again?
Some even suggest that the 3.9 version has to be hacked to enable it to play video?
any help would be much appreciated.

You dont need to hack it to play videos you just need to put the videos in the correct folder
