to clarify games are region free but you can't play a us one against a uk one.

UMD movies are different they only work on your region. BUT if u update your psp with a different countries firmware u can play their movies. E.g. if u have a uk psp and update it with us firmware u can now play us movies instead of uk.

i upgraded ym uk psp to the us 2.6 fimrware........how come i am still running region 2 umds?

You are confusing firmware with the hard coded region restriction. They are two completely different things.

ohhhh. ok, i was gunna say, many people would change to us if they were on uk.....their umds come out faster and cheaper. on ebay.

how do you tell what region the UMD is in? There's 2 numbers on the UMDs and I don't knwo which one it is.

If they have 2 differant numbers, will they play in both the reigons, for example Austin Powers and Ice Age both have a 1 and a 2, would they play in the U.S. Reigon and the Japan Reigon??
