Well the slim has some exclusive features over the older model of PSP's, such as the ability to use Skype and it has a TV-OUT port. It also has twice the RAM of the older PSP (64MB compared to 32MB), which is only used in browsing the web and such.

The easiest way to hack your slim PSP is using Pandora's Battery. What version is your daughter's PSP? If she hasn't kept current, there's a good chamce you could use a simple hack to get that one in the green, then use it to get yours there aswell.
