The psp's biggest feature is probably its ease to hack and play homebrew.

N64 emulators and stuff, great fun.

I've glanced thru the homebrew section. What would you say would be a good first "hack" for me to try. Or is there something I need to mod to start with?
Also, I saw something about winpsp portal that looked interesting.

Yeah, that is flash based and will work on new firmwares.

You need to downgrade to Custom firmware to use the homebrew.

No worries, I've never been one to conform to the norm.
On a number of occasions I've had people at work tell me that I didn't "act my age".
I didn't know there was a guideline for that.
Even my daughters give me a hard time about it. Especially the one in college.
