Default Can someone help me with this TOUGH decision!!

Right, here's my situation... for christmas this year i might get the xbox 360, but I also want to get the PS3(not for this christmas cause I live in the UK and getting one off ebay would be like £2000), I mean this is what I can do, get a 360 this christmas and probably NEVER get a PS3 or I can get something else for christmas this year and get a PS3 when the prices come down.

I want online play and I know with the 360 you have to pay monthly/yearly but I dont know the situation with the PS3, is it like the PSP, WiFi?

Plus the grapics will be better on the PS3, but the prospect of getting a xbox in like a two months just draws me in...

I'm sooo confused..HELP!!

What do you suggest I do??

The same thing happened to me and I ended up waiting for the PS3 due to all the stuffs it can do that the 360 cannot...PS3 is the answer...

You will have to tell me what 'all the stuff it can do' is other than playing blue-ray disks and being a little bit faster due to being a year newer.

I myself would go for the 360 as you have to pay the extra for the PS3 and I don't think it will be worth it. And that is ignoring the wait and the fact you won't get a PS3 after release due to shortages anyway.

lol, this is just going to start up another 360 v ps3 debate!

how well off are you? is both an option?

If you have the patience, you could wait to see which console you prefer when the ps3 is finally released....

ORRRRR, get a 360 and trade it in for a ps3 when it comes out!

Well how much is the PS3 going to be? I have a few things I could sell on eBay I mean, I have a DS and loads of games... a modded XBOX, plus on top of that Birthday money. That altogether would get me at least £450, would that COver a PS3 when it get's released here?

The PS3 is for one going to involve the player in the game by far due to the motion sensor in the controller...
It will also come with a built in wireless internet adapter which you'd have to pay a good $100 USD to make the 360 wireless...
In my opinion the 360 is just another console that has basicly nothing special that the PS3 will not have...the only difference between the 360 and the original Xbox is the HD graphics...
If you still need me enlighten you a bit more just ask...

I would say hold out at least until the PS3 is out so that you can make an informed decision. That way if you get the XBOX360 and then the PS3 turns out to totally kick its ass, you'll regret it. Or if you wait and it turns out the PS3 aint all its cracked up to be you could get the XBOX360 then.

FYI - PS3 online gaming is totally free.

Sony Released this image which was followed up by comments that "you don't need the HD DVD Drive"

this was Sony's response
Quote:
Through our comparison chart we are not implying that you must purchase the myriad of peripherals and add-ons that Microsoft offers to play your Xbox 360. You don’t. However, if you want to attempt to come close to the performance of the $499 PlayStation 3 by using your Xbox 360, Core or Premium, you could only do that through expensive add-ons — that is what our chart is demonstrating. Once you add it all up, it would cost you more than our $499 unit, and you would still not come close to everything we offer, ie: free multiplayer gaming, 50GB storage capacity of Blu-ray disc, Blu-ray disc player for games AND movies, processing power of the Cell Broadband Engine
I see what they are saying. The PS3 comes with a blue-ray player, which are very expensive. The PS3 is cheeper than any Blue-Ray player on the market right now and when you remember that you are getting a games console AND a blue-ray player, the price seems almost justified.
If Sony took the blue-ray player out and offered it as an optional add-on (like Microsoft and the HD DVD drive) then IMO the PS3 would be virtually the same price as the 360.

Anyway, I say wait for the PS3

WOW, that has just totally sold it for me!

I found out on Wiki that the PS3 is coming out in the UK for £425, which I will be able to pay for. So unless there is anyone that comes out with an amazing 360 fact, i'll probably go for the PS3!! WooHoo, i'm excited already!!

thankyou everyone!!

^^ Chances are their might be a price drop. There has been one in Asia. A common marketing ploy is to advertise as £n then to reduce to £n-x just before launch to make it seem like a bargan.

This could all be BS though. could end up being £425 as they say when it is released

Well I very much hope there is a price drop, then I can get some games. That is a massive issue as well, the price of games is unreal! What is it like 50-60 quid a game?
