Does that mean that the PS3 controller needs a dongle to connect with the system?

Can you elaborate on this please.

EDIT: I was also thinking that the Xbox Live would have more people on it than the PS3 when that goes wireless, because I would rather have a lot of people than none.

And how does the 360 connect, does it have WiFi?

Thankyou

If you had a motion sensor controller then it would be on a current generation (PS2, XBOX) or a previous generation. Correct?
What you've got to take into account is that it was an uncommon accessory and many games would not have been able to take advantage of it.
The PS3 comes with the motion sensing contoller as standard so the games will be designed to take advantage of it.
No, I had it on my PC and even when used with the games that offered support (including the ones that came with it) it was little more than a gimmick that was optional. It is just Sony trying to offer the same as Nintendo - I personally think Microsoft having had experience with this device is clever enough to avoid it.

I'm not saying that the games won't take advantage of it, I just don't think they will be any better for it and in some cases worse. Others might feel differently and that's fine. Having used it, I can honestly say it's not something I would miss.

No mate, I was referring to the differences between the 360 and Xbox. I'm 100% sure the PS3 doesn't need a dongle but the Xbox did.

The dashboard on the 360 is a bit like a cut down desktop but it allows your to play movies and MP3's etc as well as control everything from the console. Check out some of the videos here:-

Unlike the PS3, due to it being older, the 360 doesn't have built in wireless access but it is an option. However, it just plugs into your router fine with an RJ45 which is what I do.

Ok so it is still easy to play online, and easy to get hold of an RJ25?

An RJ45 is just a standard ethernet cable. And playing the 360 online is as easy as it comes. Create a new gametag and you get 1 month free gold membership which allows you to do anything.

Oh wow so I could just simply buy one at Currys etc, I have heard rumours that you can play online for free with the silver membership, but that doesnt have ALL the features, is this true?

Yep, silver membership allows some online play but not all. Currently you need to pay (in the UK) £35 for a year long gold membership after the free trial runs out. This allows you to download anything on there though and play any game with online play.

An RJ45 can be purchased from any computer shop. I have loads of them but they overcharge for them in places like PC World (£15).

EDIT: I found out that with the silver membership (free) you cannot play online, but you do have access to different areas of xbox live.

Well thats burst my bubble, but I suppose xbox live is still cheap.

Lets say I get a 360 for christmas and set up xbox live, can I buy the gold membership directly from the system or do I have to call up Microsoft or something??

You can either buy directly through the Live system (with a credit/debit card) or go down to your local Game/Game Station and buy a voucher. It works like a telephone topup card - you scrape the silver off and put the code into Live to activate your Gold account. You can buy Microsoft points in the same way. It's really quite easy.

Don't bother doing that until your free month has ran out - there is no point in paying fro 12 months when you can get 13 for the same price.

The UI on the PS3 is like an expansion of the cross media bar found on the PSP
You can check out a video of it in use HERE

The PS3 is coming out in the US in November so at least wait until it does to read/watch reviews on it before commiting to either.
