Its about £50. That was the price of PS2 games when the system first came out. Prices will drop in time. Look at PS2 games now-a-days:
Brand New top market games £29.99
Lots of great games PLUS Platinum games £19.99
Loads of other games (some pretty good) less than £19.99, hell I've got a game I played quite often that cost me £3.99

The price WILL drop down to those levels

Looks like you have made up your mind... good for you.

May I suggest though that you do some investigating on your own without the biased opinions of people such as the guys on this Sony psp site (no offence gents and I cast myself in the comment also).

The online world of the Xbox live is AWESOME and I find it differcult seeing Sony top that... as for it being free.... that is a real benefit but I am guessing that Sonyt will collect their revenue some how as they have never shyed away from an opertunity to make money in the past.

I am hoping that the PS3 is better and highers the bar for MS to come up with something better and then Sony can try and beat that... and so on... this can only be for the good of us gamers.

I can state that my 360 has been fantastic and the whole gaming experience of the online LIVE is just awesome. I have spend many many hours using the 360 and many hours online wih games like COD2... actually based on that game alone I can safely say that the money I paid for the big 360 has been well worth it.
Last night I did an nine hour stint on COD2 online. That's how much entertainment value I get from the 360.

What ever you decide I am sure that you will get many hours of fun from the system as both will have benefits.

Xbox live can be accessed for free aswell, but you can buy gold membership if you want giving more access.

I have xbox 360 and is awsome for its price, i cant say if the ps3 is going to be worth the extra money for it, that we will all have to wait and see, depending on my financial situation in march i may or may not get it.

If im still at the job im at now then no i wont get it until jan 08 when the prices would have gone down. If i can afford it then i will get one, so either way im getting it.

If i had to get just one, or i only had £500 to spend then i would wait it out for the PS3.

I heard that when you buy a 360 you automatically have a silver membership, but with that you CAN'T go online unless you buy the Gold Membership. Is this true?

With the silver membership you are limited to certain things, you DON'T get access to the whole online package. (An example I've heard my friend complaining about is with Madden '07 - You only get the roster updates if you have a Gold Membership)

I have been in so many PS3 vs. 360 debates, I'm not even going to bother listing all the information, since it will take me about an hour or 2 to do that. I'm just going to say this, if you don't want to regret your decision, wait until PS3 is released, then you can compare the 2 systems head on and get feedback from owners, this should help you make a right choice.

If you simply want people's oppinions, mine will stay with PS3.

You will have to tell me what 'all the stuff it can do' is other than playing blue-ray disks and being a little bit faster due to being a year newer.

I myself would go for the 360 as you have to pay the extra for the PS3 and I don't think it will be worth it. And that is ignoring the wait and the fact you won't get a PS3 after release due to shortages anyway.
The PS3 is for one going to involve the player in the game by far due to the motion sensor in the controller...
It will also come with a built in wireless internet adapter which you'd have to pay a good $100 USD to make the 360 wireless...
In my opinion the 360 is just another console that has basicly nothing special that the PS3 will not have...the only difference between the 360 and the original Xbox is the HD graphics...
If you still need me enlighten you a bit more just ask...
Yes, please enlighten me

For a start the motion sensor controller is a dud and will hardly be used. I had one years ago (ironically made by Microsoft) and, while nice for a while, I went back to the normal control method in the end. It will be the same here - it will add very little to gameplay in my opinion. And it is something that could be added to the 360 should the desire be there. Which it won't.

Wireless internet adapter is no use to me and most people I know. My 360 is about four foot from my router. However, I accept it is one thing the PS3 has that could be useful but not worth the extra for. The 360 has wireless controllers and that is all that matters to me. Plus you need to consider the online service. Sony have a big task on their hands to even come close to Live.

You actually believe the 360 is just an Xbox with HD graphics?

The PS3 WILL be a more powerful console - I have never denied that BUT not to the extent of it justifying the extra money at the moment. However, it is your money so you go ahead and wait until they come out, get annoyed with the shortages, wait a bit longer then eventually buy one. I'm sure you will be happy in the same way I will be when I get a PS3 the end of next year when the inevitable hardware issues are fixed and the price comes down.

When I mentioned the HD graphics was that I meant that the 360 is just an Xbox with WAY better graphics that could be viewed in HD if wanted, plus a little adds to Xbox LIVE if I'm not mistaken, like the camera and those old downloadable games...but thats it...and yeah I will do all that's in my power to get a PS3 the first day it comes out, defects and all because all I have to do is send it back to Sony if not the store I bought it from...there will be no difference between getting it the first day and getting it when the defects are bugged out because I'll still have a working PS3...

No mate, the 360 is much more than that. Wireless controllers that don't need dongles. Removable hard disk. Superb desktop that can replace a lot of functions of a PC. To name a few.

And I'd rather wait like I did with the 360. The 360 had all sorts of problems when it first came out. I wait ten months to buy one and haven't had one. It will be no different with the PS3.

If you had a motion sensor controller then it would be on a current generation (PS2, XBOX) or a previous generation. Correct?
What you've got to take into account is that it was an uncommon accessory and many games would not have been able to take advantage of it.
The PS3 comes with the motion sensing contoller as standard so the games will be designed to take advantage of it.
