Right, here we go again

The 360 prices you list above ARE COMPLETELY IRRELEVENT. You are basing your sums one the 360's current price - do you seriously think they will be selling for this amount when the PS3 eventually gets released? No, Microsoft are not that stupid. They will kick a marketing strategy off in early October to directly counter the PS3's release and it will involve the 360 selling for less money but with more peripherals. It's how business works when two companies are selling competing products.

no but they will drop the prices, agreed. But not to much below the PS3, if at all. And even you dont know what the prices are going to be for the 360. I believe there wont be much in it.

Just gonna have to wait and see. :?

I think this whole generation is screwed up. I mean, of all of them, the console that's named Wii and has backwards compatibility as a main feature is winning...

I'll get a PS3 when I'm convinced that MGS4 is worth $700...
Then again, the new Super Smash Bros. for Wii has Snake as a secret playable character. Hmm.. I wonder if you can do CQC...

The 360 is already selling at considerably less than the PS3's release price so how on earth is a further price reduction going to make it 'not too much below the PS3, if at all'?

i think he means with the cost of accessories that bring the 360's capabilities up to the PS3. I do think that eventually the PS3 will outsell 360, we just need to figure out a way of growing money on trees.

My thought is that sony have only put this stupid price tag on it to keep demand down, supply of the PS3 isnt going to be a huge number, in fact a shortage is pretty much guaranteed, but at least with the price tag there wont be as much of a shortage. All Economics
