So in brief, Sony have lost $90.7 billion in legal costs, the right to sell Playstation Controllers, Consoles and a few select games (for the foreseable future) because they stole the technology. >----------< I do feel sorry for Sony in the respect that they pursued this case when Microsoft settled away from court. But did they seriously think they'd win? And how will this affect the production of PS2/3s in the future? |

I read this story this morning on another site. Microsoft didn't just settle out of court, they bought a share in the company at the same time as part of the deal. This is more salt in the wound for Sony as any recompense to Immersion will partly end up in their pockets. You have to admire the big M's style  To make matters worse, it's now been confirmed the latest PS3 release date has been put back to November 2006. This to me indicates it won't be out until early next year as further delays are bound to occur in the next 9-10 months. Sweet music to Microsoft's ears I suspect  Quote:

So now they have to redsign the controller and a few other things? Well that a good thing, because the controllers looked wacky.
Sony can't sell controllers anymore? That stinks. It's a good thing I have a spare cause my official one broke. What about 3rd party companies who sell PS2 compatible stuff?

Its a bother because, like Pagnell said, Microsoft settled out of court then went and bought the controlling share in the company, effectivly meaning they own it and can do as they please with it. And plus the other bit of news today about the harddrive, I suspect this is turning into one big grey mess for Sony.

Damnit, I want to play MGS4. If Sony didn't make things so convoluted, I'd almost wish that they didn't have these problems.
In any case, now we won't have the PS3 coming out any time soon...
