How many (if any) of you guys have any done any game development for the PC (or any other console)? I am an indie developer currently working on a title called Fallen which is about this Cold-War style scenario. I use this program called DarkBASIC Professional which "claims" to be the most advanced 3D programming BASIC language, although it is not without its problems.

What does "indie" dev mean?

I have written small games for my PC, and some for the psp as well.
I'm kinda like a sociable geek, so i don't really get into big projects. I'm going to study computer science/games design at uni, i am going to a day course at London uni to see what its like in march. I will report back how it goes. Kev ![]()

Indie is short for independant (at least I think). But basically it means that you work on your own (or in a small team) using reletavley low cost software (as opposed to the £20K industry standard stuff) to produce small titles which you might sell from your website, or give away for free. Although there is nothing to say that and indie dev can't go on to create something bigger and get it published (one DarkBASIC user got 1st in the PC charts, although it wasn't a game
)Hope that helps |

Thanks, I was wondering because Sony said that they're looking for indie devs to make original games for the Playstation Network.

Bamhm, you will most likely learn a software which applies most 3d aspects by itself, and where you just need to desing its structure etc. I have a program like that, its good for n00bs who learn how and when to do certain things, like if statements etc.
Also, you will skim some common languages like Java and C++. Thats my guess anyways, i know for a fact you wont be created GoW 3 after it lol Kev ![]()
