This quarter is shaping up to be a great one for PC gaming. Finally there are some great single-player titles getting released on what is fast becoming a fading platform. Every single great game seems to have headed over to the consoles.

Well, I am now back home from college. Now, as long as I am able to find a job (which I really hope I will be), I could spend the money I have on a computer. I decided to go to newegg and check out what the prices would be for what I want. Here is what I came up with, seems like it has everything I need.

Would you consider getting a raptor HDD, they make 10,000 rpm and even 15,000 rpm ones now. HUGE performance increase there.

Is that performance boost really huge? The thing is those raptor drives cost far too much. I mean it would cost me $10 cheaper to get a 36 GB raptor instead of my 500 GB 7,200 rpm drive. Doesn't sound like too good of a trade. I may consider getting a 36 GB raptor separately and just use it to put my games on it.

Well i was looking at the 350gig 15,000rpm ones, i forget who made them but they are like $1000 or something.

If you have a pc that has to wait for the hard drive then having a hard drive with double the read write speeds is a clear increase in performance.

id just look at the new seagate barracudas.. 32mb cache, and pretty much on par with the raptor. and the 500gb was around the same as the 150gb raptor i think it was.

That seagate sounds like a much better choice. Found one for the same price as the WD drive I picked before, but with 32 mb cache instead of 8 mb.
