Default cd/DVD drives not working correctly with Vista

Yet another problem im getting and hope others have got it so they can tell me how to resolve it.

Both my disk drives are visible and vista says that they drivers are installed and working correctly for both of them. I put in office 2007 cd and it takes about 3 minutes for the green load bar at the top to complete then it says the disk is empty, this is of course if "my computer" dosent stop responding.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, upgrading drivers online (i have the newest ones already).

I know the drives work as i used it to boot Vista and they worked in XP.

I had to install XP so that i could run Vista installation through XP as it wouldnt work from booting from the disk.

So im guessing its Vista, i looked into registry editing which seems to resolve alot of peoples similar problems except i dont have the files in my registry to delete so thats that idea gone.

Anyone had this problem, atm im using VirtualDrive and ISO's to get my programs installed, but of course i would rather use the disk.

I've told you once and I'll tell you again kev, LAY OFF THE PRAWN. j/k

Seriously though, I've heard tons of incompatability problems with Vista, so I'm guessing this is just one of those situations. Sorry I can't help you because I don't know a whole lot about the ins and outs of computers, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you *cough* Cabe *cough*.

I'd say look into flashing the firmware of the drives. They probably don't know what Vista is, different protocols and so on.
