creating an 8 bit .bmp - PSP-Forum.com

I am trying to create my own icons for my PSP on 3.03 OE-C, but i need to have 8 bit bitmap images, does anyone know how or what to do to create them? in photoshop, i know you can, a tutrial would be nice, and i dont know paint at all so i could use some help creating them there also.. that would be awesome! Thanks!

figured it out with paint, but would still like too find a way with photoshop, if someone could still help me, that'd be great!

It should already be in 8 bit mode when you create a new file in Photoshop. If it isn't (or you opened a file) then go to the top menu.

Then click Image > Mode > 8 Bits/Channel

After that, do whatever you want and then save it as a bitmap. (File > Save As...)
