u know the problem is: yet no has a 100% confirmation on what VISTA is good or bad about, u hear one thing here, and a different there.... so i would stick with XP if was you, and if u like me, Cabe and Constantine, only want the good looking of VISTA, just get the VISTA transformation pack, its pretty cool, and u won't have any bugs, i guess.......

The main problem with Vista is some compatibility issues with things due to Drivers not being released yet. This happened when XP was new out too.

Microsoft have stated that they are going to "Phase out XP by 2008"

Heres one thing you need to understand. Just because a processor has more GHZ then another does NOT mean it is faster. There are MANY more things that come into play, such as clock speed and L2 Cache amount etc. A Pentium can never touch a Intel Core 2 Duo. Just for the record, None of AMDs processors beat a Intel Core 2 Duo. The fastest AMD processor is a 6000+. The E6600 out preforms the 6000+ wipes the floor in all games and apps it was tested against. The 6000+ is not slow in anyway, however the 6600 does preform better. Get the E6700 and it wipes the floor with the 6000+. As of now, the core 2 duos are the fastest and most overclockable processors on the market today. Core 2 Duos are a overclockers dream come true. Of course if you don't OC, the core 2 duos are still fast out of the box and beat the AMDs.

+1 for AMD.

AMD's have always been more overclockable from the stock speed.
I'm running a 2.4Ghz 4600+ at 2.8Ghz per core with only an aftermarket heatsync and the temps are fine and the system is stable. I'm thinking about watercooling it. That would mean I could probably hit 3.0Ghz and I could also overclock my 8800.

I could overclock mine, but I'm too lazy. :P It's running at about 40C I think, which is VERY cool IMO.
