Check further down below the sticky threads as some of the areas have lots of stickies that are read but below are new... gives the impression they are read when you first look in the threads.

Get owner to RECOUNT the threads.... only he has the authority to get the board to recount and reset... we do not have that option... might just be a deleted thread that is still hanging about.

I am also getting this problem, its very annoying. Old threads show up as new, although I have already read them.

I probably wouldn't mind the signing in bit but the other day i clicked the new posts button and i read a couple of the threads in it then clicked the new posts button again. The same threads said they had a new post so i looked and they didn't. I read a few more then the same thing happened

That was because it was a post from a spammer then he got banned and all his posts got deleted. But i don't know why it said there was a new post though.
