Exclamation PC 2 PC remote

does anyone know of a free program that can access and control/view another PC (like, you type in the other PC's IP address, and you can control it)?

I've been looking for hours and can't find one that works like that.

The remote access feature in Windows doesn't do that?

It does do that, but you have to have someone at the other computer in order to use it.

There was a program I used a LONG time ago that worked pretty well, I could get on my computer at my dad's house from my mom's house and get to all my programs and videos and what not, but I don't remember what that program was, but I remember that it cost something, so that doesn't really help you at all.

What did you need to do with it if you don't mind my asking?

well, for one, there are some files on our home computer that pop up every once in a while that my laptop could use, and my brother is on that computer all day playing world of warcraft, so I can't do it manually. But one big reason I want it is to see what he is doing in that game, and annoy the hell out of him at the right moment!

I know that schools have programs that let you do that, I'm not sure what the program's called though.

yea, our computer guy at school did that once. he teaches a class, and he was out for 2 days once, and he took control of my computer during my class and asked me (through Notepad) to help the sub.

I did find a program called NTRconnect, but both computers have to have the program, and the dominant mouse is the mouse of the computer being controlled (I'll call it the CBC), so if someone bumps into the CBC's mouse, I lose control until my pointer goes over the one on the screen (the other computer's pointer), and it's really laggy when you are doing anything other than using notepad, and nothing much else Specifically, I'm looking for a program that only requires the program on one computer, my computers mouse is the dominant one, and isn't so laggy. (I mean the kind of laggy where when something moves, like in a video game, the new view slowly loads form top to the bottom.

you have a few options to consider. PCAnywhere and VNC (Virtual Network Connection) are both free utilities - google them to get the latest versions.

VNC is better for limited bandwidth situations as it has a very efficient protocol but I know alot of people that only use PCAnywhere. Both applications have a need for the machine you want to remotely connect to running the application to some degree - in the background for example - and both are used by IT admins to help the poor users out of sticky situatons.

My preference is VNC.. easy to install and use...
