I have unread posts that i read before on the old style, but as i read them and go back to the main front section it clears it.
Dont press the back button, this might be a problem. On that note, i think it would be useful to have the folder links at the bottom aswell, so as i dont have to scroll up to get back to the previous page, without pressing back of course. Kev ![]() |

James,
On the subject of post reading... in the last forum software (sorry to keep drawing comparisons) if you looked into a room and not open any threads the next time you logged onto the forum it would have removed the new post status just not read... so one could ignore certain posts with the knowledge that the next time one entered the site any new posts would be marked as such. But it appears that all unread posts will stay as unread posts and will make keeping track of things a pain. I hope I explained that well enough for you to understand because after reading it I am now confused (hahahaha) Cheers Des ![]() |

I could use this method (cookie based, rather than database-based) if most people would prefer it. Only problem is, it is not so accurate when for example, you have only just read a post and return to the homepage, as it would still show the thread as unread. (Until next time you log in, as you point out). So the choice really is: 1. Show all read posts/threads as read, but only if you have actually read them ALL, (will otherwise show them as unread) or, 2. Show all read threads as unread until next time you login. What do people think? Both methods have their pros and cons. |
