It seems to me that Des has.

It not necessarily should be you (making a new skin). Any volunteer - moderator, simple member or just a person from internet could do it for you on the free will basis. And it doesn't cost crap. You just need to put certain effort to find this person. Something that neither moderators nor you are willing to do.

Lol. You seem very angry at the staff of this site, which is a shame.

I personally do not know ANYONE who will custom design a phpBB template for free. How do you suggest I find this elusive person?

I've tweaked the skin a little - what do you think?

I'm not angry at all. I'm just not satisfied with the way this forum is being run. Looks like a complete chaos in here. Dissing, cursing, repeating threads, no FAQs, no moderation work. If you, or more important, people like it like this - so be it. Otherwise I would change alot of things. Why would I? Cause it seems fun to me to help people. That's all there is to it.

Take care.

P.S. It's too bright and colours are cold. Since you went with some fire implementations I suggest light brown colours as main forum colours. But then again - if you don't have time for it - open a thread like - "Who wants a super moderator status?". And who wants to participate should send you parts or whole skin themes. Then you just change the forum skin to get a feedback on it. Simple as that. It's called interaction - something this forum lacks. Create it in General PSP forum, so many people would see it. I don't guarantee that it'll work, but at least you'll try.

OK good suggestion. Let's just hope we have some very generous, very talented graphic designers.

And I personally don't think that a brown colour scheme lends itself to video gaming or PSP.

You say the colours are cold - I say they are fresh and clean.

I appreciate your comments Creating a forum everyone is happy with is a highly iterative process, and I will try my best to make it a painless and co-operative one.

IMHO. Colours are too bright. It stresses the vision faster then darker colours. That's why people don't read FAQs (actually this board doesn't even have ones  ), cause there is ALOT to read and it constrains their eyes. I'm actually talking about white background - I'd make it grey or blue-grey, just not white. To make a thematic skin would be great. For example Industrial with metal sheets and bolt heads or Old Parchment with old brownish paper look with cracks and scrolls or some Hi-Tech clean cut design with aluminum and glass looking graphics. You not necessarily need to draw it all - you can find some graphics on internet.

You have similar thoughts to me - I would love to get textures like corrugated iron, rust, bolts, authentic metal feel and stuff, but I can't create this. I also can't steal it from other sites. I looked into custom skins - $350 is the asking price.

The post backgrounds are grey - the only bit that's white is the text input. Do you think the changes I made are any better?

John does seem to have a few anger issues about this board. I have asked him before to provide suggestions as to how things could be improved but he didn't reply.

How could things be improved John? Do you think it would be better if we banned members for having a discussion that might get a bit heated? Arguments and bickering is part and parcel of forums and getting too heavy handed would just annoy people. Personally, I would rather members kept themselves in line with minimal policing but we are prepared to ban people or delete threads if required - I have done it on more than one occasion.

I think this skin is awesome. The PSP graphic on the side is a nice touch. It's just a tiny itty bitty tad bit bright.
