Well if hes going to be running vista then he mind as well go with the 8800 Series of cards, if he wants to run windows XP for now I'd reccomend a 7600GT. Will do a good job on most games out there with out a slow down and is very cheap. I'd just get vista now and get a 8800GTX. Depends on what games you want to be playing as well. I'll build one for ya online and link you to the parts if your interested. Just need more info on what it will be used for and what games you will be playing.
