Yes, you can connect a computer to the 360 via ethernet or wireless and watch any compatible video/music/photos via any folder you have set up to be shared. The only reason this streaming thing here is required is because the 360 annoyingly does not support Divx or Xvid. Not sure about USB though but I very much doubt it as a computer wouldn't be connecting as a slave device (required) more a host.

However, I put most of the above on my external 400gb so I just stick that into one of the front USB ports and select 'External USB Device' from whatever format I want to view in the media blade.
