Yes mate, a decent computer is needed as it literally changes the codec on the fly and sends out the results over the lan. My system I think only just manages to do it with no lag at all and it's a 3.02 Ghz P4 with 1gb of ram. I suspect anything less than 1gb of ram and 2.8Ghz CPU will result in choppy video. I watched the whole of Hot Fuzz and 300 with no stops or audio problems. What's your computer spec? Also, are you running wireless from your computer to your router and if so are you using G or B? It needs to be G (54 Mbps) to be honest.
The only issue I have with it is that you can't seem to rewind and fast forward, although I have heard there are other apps out there that allow this. I am going to look into this and post the results here.
