Hey Kev,
Don't know what happened on live as we could not connect5 or even host a live chat!!!!
To answer your text message... yes the game is hard, especially on Veteran level. Here are a few tips that may heklp you.
1, Subs are detected by sonar... so running silent and deep stops them detecting you. In fact in most xases if you do not here the tell tale 'ping' of the active sonar just stopping engines will render you invisibale to surface warships..... but some still carry out a depth charge attack on your last known position so be careful.
2, Watch the enemy ships while you blast them with broad sides.... you see a flash from their guns then turn sharply... this is an acvtual trick used in the world wars. Obviously the closer the vessel the less distance the shells have to cover so the less time your manouver has to work.
3, When you are in control of a small fleet place the smaller ships down one side of your ship and face this side towards the enemy. This acts as a block for enemy torpedoes and cannon fodder so you last a little longer. Also make sure you activate their torpedo shooting ability. This default is set to no as they have a tendancy to sink you too... hahahahaha
4, Keep changing course.... it does minimise damage.
5, Always set work crews on water, fire and engine damage PRIOR to going into battle.
6, Use the zoom of the map to watch for torpedoes.... you cannot out run them but you can steer away from them.... stopping and reverse is a good ploy unless your in the middle of a sea battle in which case it does leave you wide open to serious demage.
7, Let the auto gun crews do thier job... they are very good at it... if you are concentrating on piloting the ship then click to topedoes and let the gun crews and AA guns run automatically.
8, Remember a full broadside can cause so much more damage than single or maybe double guns from front to rear... also although your target sillouette is larger you are harder to hit as you are moving in 3d not just 2d (thing about it).
Thats all the hints I have for you me old mate... hope that helps. As for getting achievements I have never gone out of my way to collect them on Medway... they just happen.
Maybe I will ask you about flying Angels as I have been playing that lately.... used at cheat at the start so no achievements for me onm that game. Have to start again I am guessing... stuck on one level... flying a Mustang in Berlin down a river to take out radar stations.... and then surviving in the air for three mins... cannot do that friggin level at all
