Piracy does not drive sales of games!! I'm not accepting that. Maybe console sales, but don't forget sony has a vested interest in all it's systems and PS3 seems to be getting most of the attention of late. This I feel is because it's next gen...
Most people would rather play in comfort of their sofa, on a big scrreen with graphically enhanced games but they cost. Go figure!! Psp is owned mostley by 14-25 market and that's fact. Factor in to this accessable income, if you can get your games for free that's good right!! Most people go for the cheeaper option which is a shame in uk we pay half as much again for games as US.
Sony are in the proccess of lauching more downloadable games they are testing the market at present!!Piracy does affect Sales and also passes that on to the consumer meaning higher prices! Anybody that says otherwise is just trying to justify Piracy:shock:Sony underestimated the holes in their early firmware. This has led to where we are now, noone knows if it had'nt happened on the scale it's reached , if the psp would have generated more sales on games because they did'nt get the chance!!!!
Sometimes things get exploited and are moved in a direction that changes a products viable return. We can only hypothesise how this may or may not have eventually turned out. Umd was a good idea and with some added data protection Sony could still win through. This would leave only back ISO, CSO images avaible. It's up to current developers to engage with Sony and create their own encrytion on their new games. Sony may have decided to call it a day concentrating on other aspects of the psp.....
